Ajaa is a love letter to the city where I lived in Venezuela, Maracaibo; and it´s Indigenous people: The “Wayuu” or “Guajiro”. "Ajaa" means "Hello" in their language: The "Wayuunaiki".
Their colorful and vivid art and style, which are forms of circles inspired by the sun, are present in every place you go in the city. Also, in Ajaa drinks important elements of the city are also included in the design.
The Logo

“a” mimics indigenous people Guajiro´s makeup. The Guajiro’s circle makeup isn’t merely decorative: it’s a symbol loaded with meanings related to identity, spirituality, protection, and rites of passage.

The Art

The Virgen de Chiquinquirá, affectionately known as "La Chinita," is a revered religious figure.

Traditional houses often features brightly colored facades reflecting the lively culture of the city.

The cuatro is a small four-stringed guitar that is one of the main instruments of gaita, a typical music genre.

The Tranvía de Maracaibo, or Maracaibo Tramway, is a historically significant mode of transportation in the city.

The Wayuu people are renowned for their vibrant and symbolic art, much of which incorporates circular, sun-like patterns. For this project, fruits of the flavor or the drinks were added to the design.
